Purpose

Outlook does not natively allow setting a default "From" or "Reply-To" address. This add-in inserts any address or alias into the "From" and/or "Have replies sent to" fields of each new message. If you have a shared mailbox or a group that you have permission to send as, SetFrom pre-populates the "From" or "Reply-To" address.

Demo Version Notes

The demo version appends the tag "[SetFrom DEMO]" to the subject of each processed message; the full version does not.

Installation

  1. Exit Outlook if it is running. Then download and extract SetFrom-Demo.zip. Run SetFromSetup.exe and follow the instructions.
  2. Start Outlook and click File > Options > Add-ins. Select "COM add-ins" in the "Manage:" list box and click the "Go" button. Verify that SetFrom appears in the list and is checked.

Testing

  1. Click File > Options > Add-ins > Add-in Options. Select the "SetFrom" tab, enter your address in the "From" field, click "Apply", and then "OK".
  2. Create a new message. Display the "From" field and verify that it shows the address you configured.

SetFrom has been tested with Outlook 2016, 2019, 2021, and 365 (both 32-bit and 64-bit) on Microsoft Windows 10 and 11.

Uninstallation

You can uninstall the add-in via Settings > Apps ("Installed Apps" in Windows 11, "Apps & features" in Windows 10).

FAQ

Q. Does SetFrom work only on replies or forwards, or does it also apply to new messages I create from scratch?
A. SetFrom populates the "From" and/or "Have replies sent to" fields for each new (unsent and unsaved) message, regardless of whether it was composed from scratch, is a reply, or is a forward. Saved drafts are not affected.

Q. Are updates free?
A. Registered users receive free updates for one year after purchase.
