RunJunkRules for Outlook 2013/2016/2019

Purpose

In Outlook for Windows, when you have created a rule to delete the spam messages, rather than letting them go to the Junk Email folder, you might have noticed that this method is not reliable. This is because once a message has been marked as Junk by the Junk E-mail Filter, no rules will be executed for that message. You can manually (but not automatically!) execute your junk rules against the Junk E-mail folder.

This add-in allows you to manually or automatically execute the set of rules against Junk Email folder.

To run the junk rules manually you have to click the Run button in the "Junk Rules" group. The green background of the Run button icon indicates that the junk rules are executed automatically.

The application is a COM add-in for Outlook.

Installation

1. On a client workstation where Outlook is installed download RunJunkRules.zip archive file and extract all files to C:\Program Files\IvaSoft\RunJunkRules directory.
   Exit Outlook in case it is running, run RunJunkRulesSetup.exe and follow the instructions.
    
2. Start Outlook and click File > Options > Add-ins. Select "COM add-ins" in the Manage: listbox (at the bottom of the page) and click the Go button. Make sure that RunJunkRules is in the list and it is checked.
   

   

Testing

• Run Outlook and click a small arrow in the lower right corner of the "Junk Rules" group:
  

  

  RunJunkRules options window will appear.

  

  Mark the rules you need to run after clicking the Run button of the "Junk Rules" group. Click the Close button to exit RunJunkRules options.

• Click the Run button of the "Junk Rules" group. Make sure the rules were executed.

Uninstallation

Click Start > Control Panel > Programs and features. Select RunJunkRules in the list. Right-click and hit Uninstall. Follow the instructions.
 

What is the difference between the free version and the Pro version?

The Pro version allows you to run the set of checked rules manually and automatically. You can set the frequency with which the set of rules is executed.

The free version allows you to run the set of checked rules only manually, by clicking the Run button.
